Talking Ray Charles-Berlin 1962

Hello

I am listening to a live-album with Ray Charles called Berlin 1962, and it sounds great. So I became curious about what recording-techniques were used.. Does anybody know?

His vocals sounds rich and clear, the instruments have good separation and the mix is well balanced.. It almost sounds like a (modern) studio-recording apart from the clapping between songs and the fact that the music is in mono.

I think this is the perfect example of how remote/live-recording can create something different than studio-recording, and a great inspiration for my remote-recording work. It's my favorite music with Ray Charles, because he sings with more intensity and improvises more freely than I have heard in his studio-recordings. It is particularily evident in "I got a woman", which (probably) lasts twice as long as the studio version and it "takes off" in the second half of the song..
