Depends on how you look at it. And how often you'll be recording.

You'll really be dollars ahead if you buy mics, use them lots, and rent them out to others.

Sure, he could buy my 4007's... but I was thinking the Sennheiser MKH8020 and Schoeps would cover that.

There's a review of all the MC 9x0 mics (tested in pairs) in a renowned german magazine (Studio Magazin) now, and they quite liked them...

Is this review available on the net ? How do they judge the MC910 ?

No, I don't think they have it on the web, and it's in german anyhow. Also, they didn't exactly do "classical" recordings. Anyhow, they found all three to be very neutral and precise, with the 910 showing a slight treble boost. If you read german, I could scan the review for you - PM me...

I learnt german at school... long time ago . Now I need some translator !
But as usual and as you suggested, I think I will not find a lot of interesting informations on how these mics could sound for me. If I decide to buy a pair, I will get them from a place with a return policy to be able to try them.
