Question Recommendation, please - External Mic for PCM D1

Hello, everyone.

I am using PCM D1 for classical vocal music recording mainly. Usually, I am recording in a concert hall and I am lyric baritone. - Well.. I end up with PCM D1 because it was a gift from my partner so.. I have to stick with it..

In these days, I am thinking about buying External Mic for PCM d1.. Can you recommend one for me?

I was thinking about Rode NT4 because it seems like I don't need to buy XLR-1 for NT4 but I am not quite sure NT4's quality is a lot better compare to PCM D1's built-in mic.

Can you please recommend some good mic for classical vocal music recording - trained opera, lyric baritone voice with piano? and if it's possible, I want to not buy XLR-1 since it's ridiculously priced.. but if it's only choice to get better quality recording with D1, I might..

Thanks very much and all comments will be greatly appreciated.

The PCM D1 has some pretty nice internal mics. I doubt the NT4 would be better quality. (I have a pair of NT5's and it does take a lost of post work to get them sounding like a high end pair of mics.)

I think the best thing to do with the D1 and external mics is to get a pramp or mixer and send the outputs to the line in of the Sony. I heard a recording of a bass/baritone and orchestra on the forums that used a Beyerdynamic CK950 as the spot mic for the volcaist. Sounded fantastic.
