Use good quality Belden 75 Ohm coax and you can have a 1000ft (tested) WC signal provided there is a good source clock. After emailing Apogee asking how far away i could put my big ben, i tested with a 1000ft reel of cable and it works perfectly. No drop outs or anything. Tested also on a 600ft installed line (video, low quality yum cha cable) and it still works perfectly. Optical signal is not going to be much good if you want stable clock. When i get to work on Monday i'll upload information supporting the reasoning behind this....

Thanks, I guess I can rule out any good dedicated optical clocking. It also means that we will have to spec high quality coax to all the concert spaces, studio and broadcast wall outlets along with the fibre and cat5 I have already requested for our new concerthall. |

Incorporating good quality 75 ohm coax into a build would be sensible even if you're not trying to get clock from A to B... video guys will be very appreciative.
