Question use of octopre converters

recording a live show, six out of eight tracks will arrive at the Traveler interface in a lightpipe at 48/24. this forces everything else down to that res. I'd be at 96 or even 192 otherwise. How about using an octopre to convert the adat to analog and into the interface at whatever I choose?

First question though -- how much difference does it make to go above 48k? I have tried and now I always run at 44.1. The difference with my equipment (yes, it depends on the recording AD equipment) is there but not worth the hassle. Everything before the AD is more important: the performer, the songs, the room, the mics choosen and their placement, setting levels in the preamp ...

the converters in the octopre sound fine, and they do go up to 96k via smux. dont know if the traveler supports this or not.

Do remember that at 96k each ADAT only gives you 4 channels (this is what makes it called SMUX).
