If this is still open when I get my Master's next year (not likely) I would apply. However I didn't see any mention of pay. It'd be right down my alley, as I got one of my undergrads in composition.

Princeton I think it was just had an opening for a Music Tech position that was something like 50k a year. I could dig that.

By the way, any website you could direct me to that keeps records of openings for faculty in Music Tech?

Check out (er, join) the College Music Society (www.music.org) which maintains a fairly thorough listing of faculty openings in most sub-disciplines. Postings also usually make the usual suspects including The Chronicle for Higher Education (Home - The Chronicle of Higher Education), Higher Education Jobs, Jobs in Higher Education - HigherEdJobs.com, etc.. Jobs also appear on mailing lists for professional organizations associated with specific sub-disciplines.

Most faculty jobs don't pay as well as starting out as the Princeton gig you mention; usually, they start in the $40-$45 range. Also, without significant professional experience, a Master's alone won't make the cut for most gigs. Or ABD. Most search committees require a terminal degree to be in hand for an application to get equal consideration. Alas, it is a buyer's market for them.

"Miami University" in Oxford OH is the original .... founded in 1809. The foundation for Miami University was laid by an act of Congress signed by George Washington, stating that a University should be located north of the Ohio River in the Miami Valley (named after the Miami Indian tribe that resided in the area).

Miami FL is home to the "University of Miami". It was founded 116 years after Miami of OH. (Maybe that fact actually deserves the "" ). The city of Miami FL is named for the same tribe.

All new Universities then.

The University in the original Oxford (not the copy) was founded about 900 years ago in the 11th century.

There are two kinds of fool. One says, "This is old, and therefore good." And one says, "This is new, and therefore better."
