There's a fun project. I have a 56 channel TRS snake that I built for that purpose. Anyone want it?

What's the motivation?

That's what I thought.

See, the thing is...

You have no idea who you're dealing with.

Wiring CAN be lots of fun when it's my own build-out project.

I know it may sound strange to you, but I really enjoy sorting it all out.
Dare I say it's borderline entertaining?

Well, for me it's surely not boring and I love the development stages, our course of action and the method to the madness when it comes to building something I designed and developed.

...You never been to one of my wiring parties.

Ordinarily when I have lots of soldering to do, I do it with a box set DVD of some sort. Last time it was Lost, before that 24, before that The Sopranoes.

It takes all the pain out of a mindless task.

For this I recommend The Wire. My favorite series and the name is a plus.

I find soldering quite therapeutic too - always good with some nice music or TV show.

If you were closer I would say buy me a nice dinner and I'll have them to you in a couple of days. I like making cables. Expandable sleeving is the coolest.

That's exactly what I do. I went through a couple of seasons of Family Guy while soldering some W4 Mass connectors. I probably would have murdered someone if I hadn't been balanced out by good humor.

The only snakes I have that work every single time every single connection for YEARS on end are the ones I wired myself. A 16 ch TRS, a 32 ch TRS, and the 24x8 split.

I won't use pitch correcting software. I use "coaching" maybe you've heard of it. It keeps working even when you don't have it on.

It's what podcasts were made for.

The hours spent at the workbench won't be the same without Russell Brand.

But I can recommend:

Mark Kermode's film reviews
This Week In Tech (a little hit or miss sometimes)
Mac OS Ken
GearCast from Full Compass

And of course, try pressing shuffle on your iPod and discover all the music you never realised you owned.

Oh, and I nearly forgot, you HAVE to get the original radio series of The Mighty Boosh on CD.

"Ah yes, the Ladder Coins, here are your refreshments in the dressing room. You are aware of the policy? Actually it's very simple, it's based on ancient Roman gladiatorial combat. If you perform well, you live. If you play badly, the penalty is death. If the crowd dislikes you in any way - death. If the gig goes badly - death. If it starts out well and then goes a bit shaky - death. Enjoy the gig!"

I just bought an additional snake for more channels that will need to have new XLR's soldered on since 1) they have seen better days and 2) to match the way I have my system set up now. It is over 200 feet and I only paid $125 so it is worth the extra work to save a bunch of money. All the channels checked out fine, but has been in storage for 6 years so a little TLC is in order.

in all honesty i dont find it that bad, but working 6 and a half days a week on the crane leaves me little time to do what i want, specially after i do some cooking and cleaning.

that said, when my house is finally built i'll get around to wiring everything up properly and solder all my own looms instead of having millions of cables running all over the place. i cant wait to finally build my custom desk to hold my console, wire it all up perfectly..... then rip it all apart for the next live show i play!!!

as for the wiring parties, im still waiting for an invite
