Hey whats up - My band has 2 lead singers in it, and we were looking into purchasing IEM's for both of us. So far, we have only heard that in order to have two separate mixes, we need to buy two separate transmitters instead of just one transmitter with two receivers. Does anyone know a way to purchase just one transmitter that allows us to possibly have one receiver output Vocalist #1, then the 2nd receiver outputs Vocalist #2? We heard that the shure psm 400 can be switched to have 2 mono mixes... but does that mean the mono output only goes to one headphone? Lastley, does anyone know a place where they might let us rent a kit to try out? Guitarcenter said no due to health hazards of the headphones. Thanks for the help - |

You can go Mix 1 to Left and Mix 2 to Right on the Shures and then pan the packs hard L/R to establish two separate mixes. I *think* there's an internal switch on their stuff that will send mono to both ears, but I'm not positive: it may be one ear in only, but you can definitely accomplish that much, at least. Michael |

I use the sennheiser evolution series when I run live iems. I use one transmiter to send two mono mixes. Mix one on the left channel, mix two on the right. Just set the belt receivers to pan hard left for mix one, and hard right for mix two on the send receiver. you got to toggle between the stereo and "focus" setting for this. be sure to lock the receivers so they don't accidentally pan towards the other mix, this can cause some wierd stuff, and can be frustrating when trying to trouble shoot why monitor requests aren't being made. the sennheisers will feed both ears the mono mix, that I know for sure, not positive about the shures.

Thanks for the replies guys! One more quick question - does anyone know if the Shure Receiver bodypacks work with the Sennheiser transmitter? We need to get an additional receiver but the sennheiser ones are ~$300 more! Thanks again! |
