I love Anvil!! Metal on Metal is a classic record (IMO). I actually recorded them in late 2007. Robb is a decent drummer, but Lips' guitar was horribly out of tune for a good part of the show. What are you doing the recording for?

I wanted to go to the movie opening this weekend, but was under the weather. A former employer of mine played guitar in the band in the late 80's/early 90's, so I'm looking forward to some funny shots from back in the day.

Can't wait for the pictures. 2 songs each! If you're not already, you may want to bring a helper along for that one. Hopefully backline is provided...

I used to be their FOH engineer back in the glory days. (80's) Didn't know they were still around.
Lips used to have 3 pairs of 2x15" cabs with 2x12" stacked above them and he didn't blow out the P.A. or me...actually had a great controlled sound. I used to close mic the edge of the 15" with an EV1776 condenser (very dark sound) and a 57 on top. The two together produced a heavy fat sound and I would alternate and solo each mic at times with different riffs he was playing and it actually sounded like 2 guitars.
Robb is not a decent drummer--he is an exceptional drummer. His kit sounds nothing short of fabulous. You will get a great sound off them.
Have a great gig.

How did the Anvil turn out? I just saw the movie last week and the movie was pretty good - and it reminded me of this thread. Did they have their 2nd guitar player with them?

That sounds fantastic. Is the reverb added or real??
What mics did you use on the kit?

I hear ya!! This is Anvil from 2007...and another drum solo. This is roughly mixed from a while ago. Still had it sitting on my computer. It's roughly the same drum solo...and not too bad either.

There's a phase/polarity problem with the file.
