Greetings all. Im new to live recording and have been experimenting on different ways to record from FOH. I have some questions that I'm sure some one can answer. 1. Using my 002. I recorded via direct outs to the 002 using a TS to TS snake. That worked no problem. I know it's post fader and not the desired method. However, I tried going out of the inserts and I broke the signal. Not good. Why did that happen? 2. Next I used the 002 with TRS to TRS snake out of the inserts and it dropped the signal to the FOH. Why? Meanwhile I got good levels to the 002. Why? What is my solution? TRS to TS? Thanks in advance. - Lu |

Most inserts on FOH boards are set up as Tip=send, Ring=return. Meaning, when you insert a plug all the way in, it breaks the signal to the fader looking for a return from your outboard gear (comps, eqs, etc). Some boards, such as Mackie and Carvin, allow you to insert a 1/4" plug into the insert to the first "click" and it becomes a direct out. What kind of board were you trying to take a feed from?
