Hi - I use this OMNIPOTENT , an Omni I/O that connects to a Delta 66 card, as a front end to my home (i.e., hobby) computer-based recording studio. For live gigs, I've been looking at buying a vocal channel strip, like the Presonus Eureka. It just occurred to me last night that if I can use the Omni I/O's preamp, I could spend more money on the compressor and eq (maybe a RNC, etc.). I know the Omni I/O is meant for computer use, but ... does anyone know if I can use the direct outs for a live situation? Thanks!

Here's the answer - I just got home, and found I could get output from the Omni I/O preamp without a computer. Hooray! That means I have more money to spend on the compressor and eq portion of what would have been a full channel strip. I'm thinking of the RNC. I have no idea what there might be for standalone EQ, if there even is such a thing. But after I confirm that the Omni I/O does it's job at practice on Tuesday (I just did a rough and ready test tonight), I will start looking! Any thoughts greatly appreciated, of course - thanks! |
