Hello folks Sometimes I record live some metal bands who bring their own instrument on the stage, and it happens that the drum set is far from being ok. It has happened in the past that I replaced the kick track with a triggered one, the band did not notice but I did and the results were really ok. Sometimes triggering a recorded kick track is really tricky, especially with double pedals and really fast drags and double hits. Even with an external Roland drum module, I could not trigger the track. So I wonder... have you ever used kick triggers live for recording applications? I mean recording just the trigger output (wich produces single pulses). Maybe this is possible even without the sound module? Let me know your opinions. |

I've done it with a midi trigger that recorded a midi track. It was a while ago, and I'd rather use tab-to-transient or a SR tool to get the job done today.

I have recorded a couple bands with triggered kicks and a triggered snare, and the results seem to be fine. The output of the trigger was taken either through a D.I. or stright into the splitter (I can't remember it has been 3 years) and the track was fine. Some bands also brought samples that were were taken into the split as well...
