Hi there I'm interested in compressing my acoustic guitar signal. Currently i just have a Taylor Big Baby and it's mic'd for gigs. I want to play a piece which has pretty big dynamics - there's some really intricate hammer on pulloff stuff which should sound similar in volume ot the harder stuff (i'm sure you all know what 'dynamics are )The original is done on an electro acoustic and i believe it to be compressed pretty hard, even when live. In fact, here's the original by Nuno Bettencourt: YouTube - Extreme / Nuno's "Midnight Express" great version 1991 And here it is minus the backing track: YouTube - Nuno "Midnight Express" Acoustic only! NO BACKING! Must Hear I understand it's technique, and he's a great player. But i do believe there's a fair amount of limiting going on there to keep everything in check. So can anyone recommend what unit to get for this? Would a standard 160XT that you find at most venues be fine this? I would consider getting a pickup fitted if that helps. Nuno is using a very thin body 'acoustic' i.e. it's not really a hollowbody acoustic at all, it just looks like one. I would like to incorporate this cover into a live acoustic set, but because the piece is pretty complex and hard going, i need all the help i can get. I think Nuno is compressing the signal here. Many thanks Eddie.
