a more effective approach would be not allowing any revealing info at all...erase the competition angle and people won't feel the need to one up...

If the Hummus World was orbiting close to the Bagel Chip world... that would be Heaven!

well well... the black calling the pot kettle.

I think a big part of the problem is that a lot of engineers are sourcing out work on this site and have adopted an unhealthy competetive mentality.....and good helpful info and genuine disagreements are suffering because of it...someone trying to sell their services is less likely to concede a point as they may be afraid that it'll look bad to potential clients...

Don't you mean the pot calling the kettle black?

And, what does your response have to do with the fact that I think hummus on a bagel chip is tasty?

I'm not a "shift the blame" sort of person, but this doesn't mean it should be an opportunity to push my buttons. I don't see how helpful that approach can be.

When sheat is hitting the fan should you just stand there and do nothing hoping that the moderator or someone else does something about it?

There are quite a few folks that have (always) given me the heads up, so I can act upon it problems at hand. It should be a team effort and this is how a team works.

I guess you can say there is no I in team, but there is "me" and, I'm here to turn this three month "hell" fest around.

I'm not taking any prisoners anymore. The free ride is over.
Sir
the buttons I was trying to press were an act of defiance and a call to action. Until you put your foot down, nothing we could do would change a damn thing.

So, let us get this straight; Joel makes light of this situation by offering a couple of tasty possibilites other than "dog eat dog" and since I totally agree with that it's a bad example?

I seriously prefer salmon or hummus over dog any day. How is that a bad example?

I see that you made this personal since you are referred that "I'm having problems" rather than the forum having problems. I wonder what you true motive is?

The majority of good folks on this forum understand exactly what we're doing around here.
There are a few that need to displace and disrupt this place, but the party is over for them.
If anyone has a complaint or an issue PM me your thoughts.

If anyone doesn't like this place by all means please leave and let us get back to the place we all know and love.

The contributing members of this forum should ask themselves, "Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?"

Trouble makers are not welcome here anymore.
Everyone must understand: Three strikes and you are out.

I have been on this forum only since February of this year. I did not know it when it was pristine. I have thought that some of the postings were juvenile in their content and grammar and I ignored them. The idea of an "ignore corral" or "soft ban" might be a good one. I definitely agree with the "3 strikes and you're out" rule. Please enforce it and make known who is banned.

I would love to dialogue with the top engineers in the business. No, I do not think my reputation would be enhanced by such. That is not the reason to be here. Everyone can learn something new every day and interacting with experienced "celebrity engineers" is a grand way to learn. Those "celebrities" would probably have a hearty laugh to hear of their status. Very few truly professional craftsmen (craftspeople for the PC) vault themselves onto such pedestals. We show our respect and admiration by awarding them such titles as "celebrity" but they can learn a few things from the rest of us, too. To think or say that one is on a forum to hob-nob with celebrities causes me to wrinkle my forehead into a "Huh" posture. It makes no sense.

I believe Steve is running a good forum that could become a great forum (again, so I understand) if we agree that he has the authority and the responsibility to cull the trash as soon as it begins to stink. Steve, you know what to do and how to do it. As Nike says, "Just do it."

I believe this particular thread is absorbing entirely too much time and energy, taking focus away from why those of us who want to be here are here; to become better recording engineers. I for one, will be glad to see this thread put to rest and locked.

The 3 strikes (or 'points') and you are out is an automatic function of the forum software linked to infraction point totals, it was set to 'auto ban' several months ago. There isn't a 'list' publicized of who is banned (why give disruptive pranksters further notoriety?) they are simply made unable to access the forum.
