Hello folks, My name is David and I'm new here. I play in an acoustic string band trio (guitar, banjo and bass) and we play bluegrass, acoustic jazz (Dawg music), Gypsy jazz, old style country music and other forms of music that interest us. I'm interested in hearing your opinions on the best way to amplify a steel string guitar using an ATM350 (or some other alternative). I searched the forum and found a lot of great information on the ATM350, but I didn't see anything specific on how to use it, where to position it and the best method of achieving the most natural sound using this mic or something like it (maybe the DPA 4099?). Has anyone compared the ATM350 to the DPA 4099? It seems the 4099 might have a better method of attaching the mic to the instrument. I play a vintage Martin D-18 guitar and I do not want to install a pickup, and the ATM350 (or something like it) seems to be an interesting possibility other than using a very high quality mic. I'm open to suggestions. Sorry for the newbie questions, but if suggestions have been posted elsewhere please let me know. Thanks for your help! David |

Welcome to the forum. I wish I can suggest something, but I haven't used that mic as of yet. I trust someone will chime in soon! All the best.

Thanks for the welcome Steve. Hopefully some information on the best way to use the ATM350 or some other alternative will pop up. Thanks again, David |
