Question vocal reverb for live?

hello,

i want to get a reverb effect like fleet foxes and grizzly bear. i know that fleet foxes used an emt 140 for the reverb on their record, and grizzly bear recorded vocals in a church to get their reverb sound but i was wondering what gear do bands use to get that sound in their live performances?

thanks.

Whatever is in the rack that the touring company brings.

Bigger acts can specify a particular unit in a Rider - but it's probably not that unusual a unit

Maybe a Lexicon, TC Electronic, or a Kurzweil... Hell, You probably find REV7s, SPX1000s, and even some Quadraverbs out there for live work.

Sorry to state the obvious, but based on what you said I would start with a plate or cathedral pre-set on whatever box is available in the rack and tweak from there.

There's also some FX pedals out there made for running a mic into if you're trying to change between these two sounds for different songs and don't have your own engineer to do it. My experience is these don't sound all that great and mess with my gain staging, which usually means feedback issues. I have had a few people that had them dialed in pretty well and it sounded good though.
