yes.....i need a cheap ass mic to plug into a canon camcorder. needs to be stereo and have a 1/8th inch plug. not exactly the typical gearslutz item....but there you have it. so far i have found 1)the rhode videomic and 2)audio technica atr 25 the main tech hurdle so far is that you cannot control the audio (even the level) on these cheap cameras and if too much signal hits it just crushes the signal into oblivion. the quality of the audio hardware is obviously crap....so there is no sense in spending serious money on a good mic....just something that will work decently. the rhode has a attenuator which goes upto -20....so i am thinking that is the way to go....but i am open to suggestions. sorry for the odd post... e

If you are prepared to do a bit of soldering yourself, check out this mic you can make for very cheap, but also apparently very good. » Blog Archive » Episode 5 - DIY Microphone This also contains information on how to incorporate it into a video camera. |

actually....i JUST discovered this: BeachTek DXA-4 this will let me interface my two gefell m300s with the camera...including volume control! problem solved. i just have to confirm that this adapter has a 1/8th inch output plug....but i think this is the best way to get good audio into this crap camera. |
