Drum Triggering, Sampling, Live show problems

Hey everyone out there. Ive run into a problem.

Ok So Im in a 4 piece rock/indie band and I drum. So here's the problem we use synth break downs in recordings. Now my question is how to I translate that into live shows? I have access to a Macbook and Ableton, but ableton doesn't play nice. So Is a Roland Spd-s my answer? I can play to a click so thats not the problem its getting it on time during live shows, it doesn't have to be triggered by me, just in general. Any ideas?

I have a group I did an album for that wanted all the extra stuff they can't do live like layered harmony vox synth breaks etc. put onto the drummers spd he triggers it live. Sometimes he hits the vox a bit late so that gets weird but it seems to work for them. Another band wanted the same type of thing but wanted to use a minidisc player to play the whole time and have whatever they can't do live to play. So since the album was recorded with a click I gave them a stereo file with the click on the left and the backing on the right. The drummer heres the whole thing in an earpiece live to play along to in time and the left side is fed to front of house mono on it's own fader for the front of house engineer to mix in.

I like the idea, but what about sans click? What about a tap tempo feature. Does the SPD s have one?
