Question Cables in trough....

I have been advised to run cables through a trough which is fine for safety and
to the eye. However I do not know what cables exist in the trough, could be mics mains and lighting or anything.

I have a starquad cabling as my first 10m from the mics but only shielded twisted pair for the remainder, I guess it all depends on whats in the trough but I am a little concerned about hums and buzzes. Total mic cable lengths for 4 mics will be 20m per mic.

I suppose suck it and see applies, any thoughts.

If there's light cables, just don't run em through, you'll be screwed.. Cables running parallel to dimmed light will always buzz.. Nothing you can do about that..

hopefully they wouldn't be running lights and signal together and worst that is in there is system power (not dimmed lights). Just dont run your cables right on top of the power and if you need to cross the power do so at 90 degrees and you should be fine.

if you have any altra sensitive mics that are going to need alot of gain i think its a good idea to get longer runs of star-quad and/or preamps you can put on stage.

Keep your distance and you will be fine

We have found that you can run low level audio cable along side power and/or dimmable lighting circuits as long as you're at least one foot away from the other cables.

Your rig should also have the proper shielding and ground scheme to maximize this possibility.
