Question Decca Tree with dpa 4006: which APE?

I am interested in which APE, L40B (40mm) or L50B (50mm), people are using with DPA 4006 mics in a Decca tree configuration. I have seen references to both APEs, but I was wondering what was the opinion of the members of this forum. If you use both, what factors do you use to choose one or the other for a particular situation?

Well the capsules of my M150's are on 40mm balls, so I purchased the 40mm DPA balls for the 4006's. I have recorded both pairs next to each other and its quite hard to tell them apart.

I use 50mm balls here with my 4006's. Seem to work very well for a tree.

In a shootout I did a couple of years ago between all of the APE's, I found the 40mm sounded the best to my ears. The 50mm is just too much emphasis and color, while the 30mm isn't quite enough. My $.02 anyway.

Now that is interesting considering the huge price differential.
