Question Mackie 1400i Question

I've got an Allen & Heath Mix Wizard and a Pair of Mackie 1400i power amps that I use for my bands live shows. My basic set up is that I feed the main outputs of the Mix Wizard to one of the 1400i's which feeds my main speakers. Then I use my aux 5 and 6 to feed the other 1400i which then feeds my monitors (sometimes I run 4 monitors, but for smaller clubs I just run 2).

My gripe is that the 1400i's weigh a ton and are really overkill for the smaller clubs that my band is playing at (both 1400i's are in a small rack which has been affectionately named "The lead sled"). Is there a way to just use ONE 1400i but still get a separate main and monitor mix? I was thinking I could use a "Y" connector from the main output of the Mix wizard to the Left channel of the Mackie, then just use one aux send to the right channel of the Mackie.... but I don't want to hurt the amp, mixer or speakers. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks!

Just use one output of the main outs to one channel of the amp then daisychain the two main speakers together on that channel. Run the aux out to the other amp channel in and daisychain the monitors. Make sure all of the mixer channels are panned up the middle because your running dual mono mains now.
You will also need to make sure that the amp can handle the lower impeadance of running two speakers in parallel. Should be no problem unless your running 4 ohm speakers. Some amps don't like 2 ohm loads.
