Question Tape (of the analog variety) Textbook

So, I'm looking for a good textbook (for possible inclusion in a university course's required materials) dealing with analog tape. Something that deals with all the usual suspects: wow, flutter, calibration, head gap effect, etc. etc. etc. Anyone have any good ones?

I know this isn't quite "Remote Recording", but I just like everyone in this forum so galdarned much! Plus, if I'm not mistaken, there are a few college professors kicking around here.

Steve, feel free to move it if you deem it necessary. (If so, sorry for the headache!)

Hi,

The classic 'bible' on studio technology back when analog ruled was "The Recording Studio Handbook" by John M. Woram (I have the 'updated' version that includes things like time code use.)

It is an invaluable resource full of the nuts and bolts of recording, with very good info on tape machines, but it has gotten rather expensive as it is out of print. Search around; Amazon's prices are silly for this one.

I hope you can find one; it is a great reference book.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. It's hard to find good printed info on tape these days; most books mention analog tape briefly and then move along to "more modern" recorders...
