Wrong!

We have great success with the DCD-8.
We don't leave home without it.
It's a solid box with plenty of bells and whistles...
Plenty of gazines and gazouts.

It extracts Word all sorts of digital audio (AES, ADAT, SPDIF and FW) and SD or HD video

The DCD8 also can generate multiple rates simultaneously.
It distributes word out of plenty of spigots.
It also can analyze the clock.
This box can even convert and/or route AES, ADAT, SPDIF and FW.
Any audio input can be routed and re-clocked to any audio output.

The optional VSG-4 video sync generator provides two SD and two HD feeds.
NTSC and PAL sync can be generated at the same time to each SD outputs.
Various HDTV tri-level sync formats can be sent (two at a time) to each of the HD outputs.

The video generator can be locked internally or externally via any WC, audio or video reference.

This IS a very sweet box for sure.

Awesome. Martin is a great guy and very helpful individual.

I've heard good things about the Nanosync and OCX-V...

We haven't had a chance to compare Brainstorm to those other units, but we have had great results with Brainstorm's other products, so it was a no brainer for us to go with the DCD-8 with optional VSG4 card.

I trust you will be extremely pleased with the results of your demo.
If you're going to A/B/C the three units please consider posting your findings and thoughts.

Please send him my regards when you speak to him again.

All the best!

hey Steve,

i just tried out the Brainstorm DCD8. got it without the video card, since we only needed Video Ref spitting WC to our PT and Venue rigs.

initial impression - very impressed. super intuitive to use, easy navigation, clear indications.

tried to trip the unit by pulling Black, operation for redundant reference is smooth as butter. it's not like the iClock where i can hear a relay happening (whether there is a relay or not i'm not sure). nevertheless, it switched over smoothly; and if it comes back while still recording, i liked the option of staying internal or able to switch back without hiccups.

this demo unit is stayin baby, and we're gonna get another. hope it'll keep going strong for years to come.

thanks again for the recommendation thumbsup

No problem.

I'm happy to hear you liked the unit.

It's a solid device with excellent engineering behind it -- IMO, this quality unit sells its self.
