good signs for a good live show...

When its Del McCoury and his band and they want to do the show with just one single mic and no stage monitors. (Del you are the greatest!)

When the band shows up with a bunch of twenty watt tube amps from the late 1950's and the bass player has an Ampeg fliptop.

When the drummer shows up with a small kit and tunes it lightly with the tip of his finger.

When the musicians are blind.

When there is no opening act.

When you have the trim knob set at 11 O'clock and the lead singer red lines it thru an SM 58.

- Cheers

PS. Anyone in San Fran need a solid soundman?

Been there for all those things! I also set up under the dartboard at an Irish pub in Alameda every so often.

PM you, I'm in Marin.

You know it is going to be a good night when the Guckenheimer Sour Kraut Band shows up:

How about this - it's gonna be a good night when the band director is frantic because his volunteer conductor for the piece he's playing a solo on cancelled last minute and you've got to take the podium yourself!

Thank God I'm a good conductor.

Lee Roy Parnell (who is a Duane Allman devotee) calls up Jack Pearson (who just happens to be in the audience, and toured with ABB 1997-1999) for a 15-minute romp through "Stormy Monday" and "You Don't Love Me". Oh, yeah.

It was a good night...

...when the saxophone player says, "...I think two guitar amps will be enough for me."

When you ask the bartender for a cup of coffee after the club is closed and he gives it to you. . .with a bill for $4! Oh wait. That's how you know it's going to be a bad night.
