2009 season american idol live wireless mic... still the senn from last year?

are they still using the Sennheiser SKM5200? it's so shiny silvery this year it almost looks like one of the heil pr-22 silver mics, but I can't imagine they'd use that instead of the senn.

no offence to Bob Heil, I love the pr-20 based mics (own some!), but out of any mic to choose in the world with that budget... well I'm just curious.

I searched and only found info about last year's show (hence my knowledge of what mic was used then).

they're still 5200 series, 5235 capsule, but in a new chrome finish. they're exactly the same inside - just the outside finish is different. it's the same mic used for Beyonce on Image Awards.

it also comes in diff colors, as well as a bling crystal version (you'll see that on Dancing with the Stars).
