Talking How was your stage today?

How was your stage today? What mics did you put on what instrument? Preamps? Compressors and limiters? Other Gear?
We prefer ofcourse the expensive stuff, but anything worth mentioning is welcome!

I'll post what I had today underneath.

Wow...That is a lot of money in mics sitting there.
Here is what I used last...
Kick 1 and 2 - Audix D6
Snare Top - SM57
Snare Bottom - ATM pro 35
Hi Hat - 451
Tom 1, 2 and Floor - 421's
OH L and R - 451's
Bass DI
Bass - RE20
Guitar 1 - 57 and M201
Guitar 2 - 2 - 57's
Vox - SM 58's x 3
Room - 2 x AKG 414
Crowd - Senn Me64's.

1st time using the Audix mics...didn't really like them. Didn't like ME64's on the crowd either. The room kinda sucked, so the even though I had 414's they didn't sound all that great. It was a metal show, so I chose to double mic the guitars.

Holy cow. That's a lot of expensive mics. I wonder how often the mics are worth more than the instruments they're being used to record?

Although I was supposed to be recording a violinist and his trio last year for DVD (don't get me started on what happened with that gig) where we WERE going to be using:

SF24
3 x 4006
5 x 4011
TLM170

(or something very similar)

And that lot was worth less than one hundredth of the value of just the violin.

In the end, the production company hired someone who I think mainly does game shows (!), and they brought mics that were worth about a thousandth of the value of the violin. Says a lot about TV companies and their outlook on audio.

Damn... I did TV-sound for a couple of times. Mixing on nice stuff, listening on good monitors... I did almost everything with schoeps, neumanns and DPA's. But when sistening back, I found out TV-mixing is NOT satisfying! You can hear everything well, but you'll be the only one, since everybody else will listen to the signal on the tiny horrible tv-speakers. Not to mention the compression that's on it! All your work compressed to crap

I had Marc Ribot solo on stage today.
Used a M88 on the Fender Twin, and a KM140 to mic the accoustics of the electric guitar!

He did some wicked things turning his amp down and having only the acoustic signal from his guitar in the hall
