Exclamation "Get well" wishes for Rich Mays (sonare)

Rich Mays, who runs Sonare Recordings of Savannah GA and posts here as "sonare" recently had emergency open heart surgery. Here is a message from Rich's wife, Liz.
Please know that Rich is doing remarkably well just 36 hours after life-threatening catastrophic open-heart surgery during which the aortic valve was replaced, a large aneurysm was repaired, and a several inch portion of the aorta which had a rip on the interior wall was replaced with synthetic. We are thankful to God that Rich is still with us as we are told that most people would not have survived the medical problems Rich had Tuesday. His friends and church family have surrounded us all with love and prayers which we believe God has answered. And the doctors and nurses continue to marvel at the speed with which he is progressing in his recovery. We covet your prayers that this pattern will continue.
I'm certain many folks here will want to wish Rich a speedy recovery. A special email address has been set up for this. savannahpup@gmail.com The email volume will surely be high, so please don't expect a personal response, but know that Rich is pretty bored sitting there in the hospital bed and will enjoy hearing from you.

Guys,

It's unlikely that Rich has web access from his hospital bed. Drop a note to the email address I posted at the top, because his wife is monitoring that for him. If nothing else, she can print it out.

I have always enjoyed and appreciated Rich's contributions to this forum; a guy I'd love to meet one day, maybe some of his wisdom would rub off. The world is a better place with Rich in it.

I wish you a speedy recovery, dear sir.

Glad to hear he's doing alright after something so serious. I had a hemorrhagic stroke over the summer which left me unable to walk and use my left arm. so 20 years of clarinet playing went down the tubes basically over night. I'm walking now with the backup support of my significant other, but still a long ways off from being able to play, ound out from the hemorrhage that I had brain cancer beat that into remission. So I know a bit about catastrophic tragedies. and I know how important loved ones and the support of friends is.

Friends,

The bonds of our internet band of brothers can be very strong and impressive. I have received dozens of emails from folks I will likely never meet, but I am touched that you took the time to write and hopefully pray also.

The staff here continues to be amazed by my progess-- not the least of which is that fact that fewer than 50% survive an aortic disection operation. Today I spent the day in the recliner chair and walked (with a small amount of assistance) to the bathroom. As soon as the bloating goes down (I have about 30 lbs of "fluid" I shouldn't have) I will spring this joint.

My surgeon, Dr Cavallo, is as good as they come, and he is not normally scheduled at this hospital (which happens to be a level 1 trauma center) and "coincidentally" was on call that night.. Thing is-- while he is highly skilled, he is also talented, and that only comes from one place-- and that is God.

I will report back when I leave the hospital.

Rich

I thought that by now I could tell everyone to have a pint in celebration, but seems that there is a stubborn infection causing a fever that is mucking things up. I'll provide more details when there are any to report.

I know that when I get home I will GLADLY take an internet fast.

In the meantime, thanks to David Rick for starting this thread.
