Question problems with a banjo during live show..

ive been getting alot of feedback from my banjo player..he has a pickup mounted at the bridge..he also has his little amp on stage..is there any piece of gear that will help with this problem..like acoustics have the thing you put in the hole to eliminate feedback...any suggestions even on a different pickup would be great..or would a mic just be the solution..if so which would you recommend..thanks slutz..

Where is the FOH feed coming from? The pickup or the amp?

Option: reposition the amp so it's in a less feedbacky place.
Option: use a magnetic pickup for the stage monitors, transducer pickup for FOH. This is a common setup for dobros.
Option: lose the stage amp and get him to use an in-ear monitor for the banjo.
Option: get him to learn where he can and can't stand.
Option: Mic the banjo and let the FOH engineer worry about the feedback. I'm partial to dynamic mics on banjos.

I always prefer a mic in acoustic instruments, but sometimes it's not feasible.
