I was just wondering if anything of this sort exists? A paperback book of frequency response / polar response graphs? It would be good for a quick reference/aid to getting used to the appropriate microphone for the job. I like the way HeadRoom have a separate freq graph for each of the headphone items they stock. The graphs are prepared in-house, so they are quite accurate or at least 'universally' flawed, ![]() Does a microphone review website exist like this? Or a book? Not Microphone Reviews which is not very informative tbh. I could go to each and every manufacturers websites and research the specs myself, or alternatively I could buy and test every mic in existence, not. I'd really love something like that to exist, do I have to make it myself? |

| Lives for gear | Microphone Data is what you're looking for. It's a great resource. You have to register but I've never, ever gotten a piece of mail from them. I use it all the time! thumbsup

The Microphone Data website has already been mentioned. However - this grew out of the "Microphone Data" book that was published in 2001. This was done by Rycote in the UK - you could always try giving them a call to see if they have any of the books left. This would have all the mics available as of 2001 and any newer models look on the website version. The great thing about the "Microphone Data" book and website is that all the data is shown the same way, so you can make direct comparisons between frequency response and polar-pattern especially as all graphs are to the same scale. The data is all from manufacturers published data but all presented to the same scaling.
