I haven't used it, but I will bet that if ART sees fit to put it on the market, it's well worth the price and performs fabulously. Consider this hearsay, but it's probably more like a prophecy.

I view anything coming from the mountaintop as prophecy.

Breaking news:

Paranoia hits the "Remote Possibilities" Forum!!

Ha ha, the joke is on you sucka!!!

Come on now -- no way! What kind of operation do you think I'm running here.
I don't let that sort of thing linger much around here.

Based on his past posts, I feel Joel is a fan of ART and the original MXR stuff.
For that matter, so am I.

So, in any event, I guess you still have to ask him yourself to completely certain, but that's what I believe.

We may be joking about the fact that he's the prophet of the audio gods.
IMO, that jury is still out.

I've got an S8, but I haven't used it much. From my limited experience, I'd say it is on par with the EWI splitter (MST-412), but the S8 only has a two-way split vs. the EWI's three way. I usually use the direct outs for recording, so I haven't really checked the sound of the iso outs. In short, it does what it's supposed to do, and I can't really complain about it for any reason.

Solid

I've done several live shows with 2 ART S8's. It worked fine between the FOH guy and me with our gear being on different electrical circuits. No grounding issues. Can't speak about the sound of the split outs because the FOH let me use the direct's to record!

I got three in a pop-venue since we're building the studio.
So far, they sound great for their price and I'm really happy with them!

Don't let the price fool you, they do an excellent job!

Maybe the technology has come to a point where the expensive research has been don and is now applied in an affordable way? (what's in the name...)

TF - could you expand on that a bit? "Great for their price" could mean "they sound like crap but they were cheap" or "they are really good for cheap gear." It seems you are saying that they are good and affordable. And ~USD240 is not a lot of money but it is more than I want to spend for no reason. Thanks!

i ended up getting these. have been using them for a year or so. (this thread is old).

My experience, they sound fine. Do your best to use the direct outs for recording. Every sound guy I have encountered has been ok with this. This means that you need to supply phantom power from your recording rig.

Only thing I notice from the ISO outs is a slight roll off with the high end and about 1.5db less signal. This stuff shouldn't matter at all for FOH.

Again, it's so little that it's not really noticeable.

Hey, it has been a longtime, so thanks for chiming in on this one.

I can understand the 1.5db or so loss in signal, but I'm not sure if I can dig the high end roll-off even if I was at FOH; I guess that's just me.

A high end roll off is more something I would expect being the result of long cableruns?
