That is just another version of a cruise ship!
The entertainment may be comparable, but I would have to disagree with this statement.
Vegas is a different world, indeed, but NOTHING like living on a ship.

My job is similar, but my life is completely different. Starting with freedom, food, leaving work every night to come home.
One thing about working on ships is that you are ALWAYS at work. That was my biggest problem.

Even $2000 at In&Out after taxes per month, you get to subtract rent, gas, food, utilities, cable.....etc.....

Hmmmm........Exotic islands, mediterranean, Alaska, South America, work with high tech equipment, experience in the entertainment industry, cheap booze, live and party with tons of hot chicks everynight.......

Yeah, you're probably right, a career in the fast food industry sounds much more appealing. I guess it's all in the prioritizing.
That's a joke - That's what I made in week on tour doing arenas and way better bands.
All my food/drink and lodging supplied. Plus a free airline ticket home after the tour.
I make 250/day staying at home doing a local and no gear lifting. Studio work double that per day.

I worked on 2 ships from 2001-2002. Carnival Celebration and Carnival Paradise. The first ship was the Cele and to this day, it was the best 6 months of my life. But for a lot of different reasons which I am not going to get into. Working on ships made me realize 2 other very important things. Live sound sucks and ONLY date foreign women.

So here I am in 2008 married to a beautiful woman from Venezuela and not doing any more live sound gigs.

well, touche, however, working on ships is basically working in the service and hospitality industry.

Whoever the musician was that expected the ship's hotel director to say: "yeah, go fvck some guests, sure, get it all while you can" is an idiot.

Great, keep at it.

The OP's inquiry was about working on ships.

There are a lot of gigs that pay more. Several that pay less.......All of them better than working at In&Out. Plus it's a great life experience.

Heh-, that's a good one! Bass player in a jazz trio getting laid, yeah right!
