| Hello to fellow Slutz, I have a couple gigs coming up that are for a video shoot.3 cameras I believe. The director wants a multitrack recording for post production. Anyone have experience syncing to video during recording or know of a good source to learn? I'm using the Fireface800-Powerbook-DP- for tracking plus MDM's for back up. (DA78 and DA88) Any ideas? Thanks in advance Don |

| time code This program may help you. http://www.icehousepro.us/tcode/ I'd use a blackburst generator as your source, sync up a couple of denecke boxes for the cameras, sync the dats, and if your computer interface doesnt have a timecode in, use this program to maintain timecode markers for you via an audio channel J. Ratliff's book on timecode is very helpful. A

House Sync(VIDEO SYNC) LTC(POSITIONAL REF) Those two things will come from the VIDEO truck...The video sync will most likely be "time of day" Time Code, which is 29.97D; that being said, your record decks should be set up acordingly. For the DA-98 decks distrubute the video sync to all decks as well as the LTC as well, and remember to enable TC record on those DA's. As for your laptop, I'm not farmilliar with the hardware. Key is to use the video sync and LTC that comes from the TV truck, good luck. http://www.ezraudio.com | |

| Tahnks for the replies! I already own a DA88. If I put in a sy-88 card, will that do what the 98 will do? The same question about the Tascam MX2424, will it slave to video? Don |

| It bears mentioning that it would behoove you to run a backup recording setup that is recording the TC output of your Video Synced deck to an audio channel but is not synced in any other way to the house video clock.. IF this is strictly a non live staged video shoot it is not as worrysome, but if this is a live event and the second in the video truck decides to unplug that pesky patch cable that is in the way of the stairs " just to move it and hook it back up" you will thank me as all the house synced decks just stop recording and wait..... ( this type of this has happened more than would seem possible..)
