Hey everyone, I'm looking for tips and tricks for recording big band jazz. The conductor I'm working with is looking for a sound similar to the USAF Airmen of Note CDs. From what I gather pretty much everything in the band is close miced with a lot of reverb in post. I have access to pretty much any gear I need for the project so I am looking for Ideal setups here. I do need to record the entire band at once, although I have the option to go back and overdub solos if i need to. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. David |

At the other end of the mic'ing scale is the Sheffield Direct to Disk recording of the Harry James band done with one stereo mic. It sounds great. The CD version is very good. Check it out.
