blazing a new trail

I´ve been a voyeur of the site for a while and I´ve learned a great deal. From the most esoteric discussions to those grounded in core functionality, I´ve discovered that, for the most part, people here know what the hell is going on. Or at least they have the desire to find out.

Here´s the issue at hand... I´m putting together a mobile studio for personal use that needs to serve the purpose of 1) providing adequate living space for extended periods of time for 3 or more people and 2) serving as a studio. Here´s what I have to work with..

. 1998 Winnebago Adventurer

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4544493670
&category=50057&sspagename=WDVW

mixers
.. Allen & Heath GL2 mixing board
.. Soundtracs 24 ch. Topaz

cpu
.. new dual processor PC + dual monitors (+ 2 uad cards + rme fireface)
.. toshiba 2.6 ghz laptop (rme multiface)
.. sony viao 2.8 ghz laptop (echo 1/o)

monitors
.. Blue Sky 2.1
.. Genelec 1030a

midi controllers
.. doepfer drehbank
.. korg microkontrol
.. jl cooper minidesk
.. yamaha dx7

. assortment of outboard effects (pedals)
. 2 racks of PreAmps, Compressors, etc..

I´ll also be bringing 3 guitars, a bass, a well-rounded mic locker, and a few other various bits of kit. A few friends of mine (well versed in carpentry and electronics) and myself will be doing all the studio modifications. Before I pick the vehicle up, they´re going to remove the decals on the outside, add a bathroom, and remove the rear half of the computer desk.

For living considerations, I´m going to pick up a few air matresses, a mini fridge, and whatever other things I can think of. I already have a kegerator (crucial!) and 20 gallon water purifier.

The ideas that we have are to add a battery bank in one of the storage units, add solar panels to recharge those batteries so that we can stay in remote locations, make a multi-layered iso booth in the back (using sound-absorbing sheets) and converting the front half into the control room. We are drafting plans to custom build the racks and desk for the pre´s/comps, effects, controllers. We´ll also be buying bulk cabling and soldering our own connections and putting together patch bays. I have loads of 2" and 3" auralex for the control room which we´re hoping to put to good use.

I believe our plans are well-concieved, but I wanted to drop a line to the sluts of the world in case we´re missing some things. And if I know myself like I think I know myself, I´m probably missing something. In any event, I´m certain that we can benefit by some suggestions.

I was going to post this in the mobile recording section, but we´re not doing location gigs for live music. We´re just living and working by ourselves. Any comments are greatly appreciated.
