Question UPS battery pack for classical music recording

Very recently I recorded a Live classical concert in a church where the power sockets were not earthed and my Paintpot needs it. So now while finalizing my project i can hear some ticks probably due to not having very clean power.

My question would it be a step forward if I would invest in a UPS battery pack and run the whole live recording from a battery??

If yes, can you give some advice on what I exactly would need to just have the paintpot powered up, my recorder already runs on batteries.

Regards,

Gaston

I don't know the PP,but I'd be surprised if it were so sensitive to the power supply...

UPS devices are usually not made for continuous operation, I doubt you'd last very long with it. A dedicated battery may be better, but it could be rather large, depending on the power requirements. If you're worried about the quality of the supply, there are power conditioners.

As for "uninterrupted", when the power and the lights go, there will be an interruption anyhow, because the musicians can't read their scores any more ... So I would say it's most important not to lose data, i.e. make sure the computer does not just get switched off.

D-Fu,

You are absolutely right, when there is no power there will be no lights of-course i.e. musician want be able to read their scores.

I am not familiar with electronics but what I have learned is that power from a battery is free from clicks etc etc as there is no fridge in the same power chain for example or other device such like TL fluorescent light trafo.....

Now I want run a whole rack of gear on a battery just one pre-amp.

True, however I use the UPS to keep gear running when someone (an idiot) cuts the power, accidentally pulls my cord from the distro, or some other disasterous glitch. I'm not sure, but I would be looking somewhere else for clicks in the audio than the grounding. I'm almost positive a faulty ground will create hum. So far I have not heard clicks from a lack of ground.
