Hey slutz! I was wondering if any of you remote people out there have used any portable or 'Fly-Away' satellite setups for radio broadcast. I may need to use one for a remote in upstate NY where I can't get access to ISDN lines. I'll be needing 2-way audio communication at at least a 128k data rate. I've heard of the Swe Dish IPT portable SNG, but also noticed that the price tag is around $130,000! And I can't find anyone that rents them. Or another unit I've noticed was a nera m4. Has anyone heard of that? Any other ideas??? -Matt |

Give a call to the engineering dept of your local TV stations. Ask them where they rent satellite fly packs from.

So I found out from a guy who owns this satellite truck rental company in DC (Live On Site) that the Swedish IVP suitcase is actually not liscensed by the FCC for use in the USA. Go figure, that's probably why I can't find it as a rental anywhere. I'm going to try calling the local news stations in the NYC area. Thanks for the pointer! -matt |

How did you do with the local broadcasters? I get this satellite products catalog from a company called DAWNco. They're in Orion, MI. Their telephone # is 248.391.9200 Fax: 248.391.9207. Their website can be seen by clicking on > http://www.DAWNco.com They have complete systems and such. They're a one-stop resource for satellite and fiber optic communications. They should know the right people for you to talk to. I bet they can steer you in the right direction. All the best. Keep us posted. I hope this helped.
