Talking Passive monitor for location film scoring and surround orchestral work

I am looking for passive speakers for the LCR of a location 5.1 setup for orchestral scoring work.
These will be powered by 3 channels of Krell KAV150, 150W per ch.
The LS/RS is currently TB2sa or SCM20-2

The requirements are:
My preferred speaker for this type of work is B&W 801, and I would like similar sonic qualities, similar range, and about half the size.
The speaker needs to have somewhat of a proven international trackrecord.

No active suggestions. Right now I am focusing on passives, as I have settled on a shortlist for actives. I am looking for in-depth reasoning behind suggestions.

I need to keep this under $11 000.
On my shortlist for future trials so far I only have
L707

If you're monitoring in 5.1, you're going to need six channels of power, right?

That is a hard bill to fill. Sounding like the 801's is one thing, being able to carry then up and down four flights of stairs is another. And then being available for a demo in Malmo. I would be interested in what you wind up with, seriously. The 801's have always be the gold standard.

Keep us in the loop.

Kjetil,

what about QM10 or piP?

One of the Guru people play cello in Malmö I believe.

Another vote for QM10 or piP.
I use a pair of piP when recording on location.
I also use ADAM A5 for editing, but the sound quality is not even close to piP.

I recently saw Focal had a passive line.
Have a look. (Budding out real quick now.)
Also ADAM has (at least had) passive speakers.

I don't know if you are referring to me, but a little more details might not hurt.
I am not quiet working in the same league as you, but my part time business is doing quiet well. My main focus is classical on-location recording.

Is it max spl, bandwith or something else you believe would be a limitation (as compared to your needs) in the QM10/piP?

You may want to check this page:

Will you travel with the speakers in the US?

The Lipinskis will have stronger output for sure but obviously they are bigger and heavier.

The suggested QM10 and Ino Audio piP are fantastic monitors.
