I love my i5 on snare, I think it may be my favorite (live - club) mic for guitar and percussion too, but I saw a beta 56a for sale cheap and am going to get it. I searched (GASP! Someone searched before posting?) for related posts, but didn't find many opinions on the 56 vs a 57 or i5 - in a LIVE setting. I'm thinking the 56 is going to be great functionally because it, like the i5, is all metal. What are your opinions on the sound? |

You won't regret getting a 56. I use them on snare all the time. Also a favorite for guitars. Anything you'd use a 57 on but you want the lower profile.

Yes, but a Beta56 and Beta57 sound much different than an SM57. I'm not sure if I like the Beta56 or 57 better than a good old SM57 on snare... What do you folks think? By the way, I've been using a TLM104 as my "go to" snare mic for quite some time now.

If the drum's good I sometimes prefer the Beta 57 on the top, however, I still prefer the standard 57 underneath. Regards Roland | |
