Can i run more than one input through a transformer ? They are costly and I need a 48 split. What do you think?. All the splitters you buy have one transformer for each input. |

What exactly do you want to do? Split 48 microphones, each to two destinations? If so, that requires either 48 transformers or 48 active circuit equivalents. --Ethan

Thread Starter | Yes I want to split 48 different mic's.Why can't I run say 2 inputs through 1 transformer and out to 4 outputs. Or even more if I could. If I could cut out half of the transformers that would really help on cost. I am not sure if the transformer can do it's job running more than one split. You know how it is on a tight budget. |

if your on a really tight budget the good old "Y" split works a treat. so many live sound multicores still work this way

only fear is I am running into 2 different mixing boards. We are doing y-splits now and doing ok. I was just trying to make it better and get it all mounted in a box ( cleaner setup ) on the chep

why don't you make a box, wire 48 xlr inputs to 48x2 outputs. ![]() you would have better luck in the geekslutz section. |

I also agree with the suggestion to post in the Geekslutz section. --Ethan | |

I'm still seeing no real reason to actually do this... especially 48 of them...

FWIW, unless you're going to be dealing with Radically different ground potentials from various/seperate power sources, a passive split will do the trick. The key is grounding: if everyone sees/uses the same AC ground, you're golden and everyone's friend and transparent, maybe even below the radar...the FOH and Monitor techs, the TV truck, the radio people... My advice would be to examine where your money is better invested: power or audio distribution. I say power infrastructure. People have generally left me alone after showing up and asking for the house electrician to tie me in. It lets me avoid the politics to devote more time/brainpower to the job I've been hired to do, which is capture the music. |
