im gonna use it for singing + playing keyboards.

Not true about the 450, but the old version sounds much better in the mid range than the new V2

I've used the SRM450 for 7 years now. thumbsup
I guess it needs new capacitors, it has developed some noise.
the only time it crapped out (the overheating limiter kicked in every 10 minutes) was in a closed barge, with 60 ppl. in a cramped space during a massive (soundwise) hiphop party. opening the door solved the problem inmediately, but it couldn't stay open because of the strict noise regulations in this country. So was bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp spifffff door open .... wait bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp spifffff door open .... wait bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp bwooomp bwooomp bobobo bwooomp spifffff door open .... wait etc.
it's a workhorse. nothing glamorous.

Both are not pleasing to listen to at moderate or louder volume levels. If you're looking for a powerful, powered and portable speaker, check out KV2Audio. In the same league as the meyer UPA-1. Also, the new QSC's are getting some good reviews from my local PA company.

I don't know, the original SRM450 sounds much different than the newer version.
Keep in mind that you cannot mix and match older and newer models as stereo pairs.

In any event the SRM450s have much more power than the SRM350s.
Why did you consider going with the smaller speakers?

The New QSCs are Amazing!

I know the OP has gone Mackie 350 but as a user of the 450s for about six years now, I had the absolute pleasure of hearing the new QSCs which are just amazing in just about every respect when compared to the 450 ...

I don't need the upgrade just yet but one never knows.

I've used 4 x G2 Eons for years now, mainly for jazz/acoustic amplification in concert venues up to 400. Never missed a beat, excellent for this purpose.

Just installed a couple of QSC HPR153i s into a venue, they sound great - but all the QSC HPR speakers are heavy, even the 12" come in at 27kg.

The G3 Eon has just been announced and the 15" is just 14kg and has improved specs over the G2s - would be worth checking out unless you're into body building!

The 122i is my favorite 'make me some money' box. I got rid of all of my srm450 (tho I own and dont hate a pair of srm 350s). Similar tho lighter but not as loud are the EV sxa250. Both go for under $1400 a pair with soft cases if you look.
