Talking Super Spec laptop...wow!

Just came across this. I'm a Mac guy and never use P.C's but couldn't believe the specs on this laptop! This would make an incredible portable studio and powerful enough to run as a desktop as well.

Core 2 Duo Quad Core (4 processors in a laptop!)
Up to 16GB of RAM....What!!!!
2 X 500GB internal drives configured in RAID0....1TB in a laptop!
1GB graphic card....Didn't even know it existed!
HSDPA 3G built in high speed internet
1920X1200 17" LED display

Dell Precision M6400 Mobile Workstation

Man...this thing is crazy! I hope Apple steps up to the plate and offers something comparable.

Neither of these specs alone, nor the combination thereof, will automatically turn a laptop into a great audio machine...

1. Loud as hell when long/heavy use.
2. Dell. Those battery's are awefull bad. In 1year there charge/use is down to 40%. Even if you use them good.
3. You can't compare a mac intel with a windows intel. OSX reponse and source different the intel prossesors then windows. Even the ram acces is complete different. It doenst mean that when they have the same "engine" that you can compare them. There 60% other things that count also.
(its like comparing a V8 Bob Wildcat 4x4 with a V8 f355 Ferrari )

Its a nice laptop do. But for that price I buy something different.

Wow that thing is hideous... I'll wait for the quad-core Macbook Pro instead.

As I've learned, it really does take a special kind of laptop for audio, not just specs. The specs on my computer are pretty impressive but when the FW port is a shitty RICOH one and the motherboard is garbage then all the specs in the world aren't going to help you out much.

Exactly.

The Dell with a quad core seems way overpriced compared to what else is out there. Check out the price/specs on this Sager:

SAGER NP9262 Ultimate Custom Laptop (Built on Clevo D900C / D901C)
