Talking Apogee Duet case - Portable rig accessories like bags/cases/etc - Help!

Hello, I'm trying to get my portable Macbook and Apogee Duet rig out on the road, and I'm looking for case/protection solutions that are decent, but very mobile!

I see that Apogee has an 'official' bag/case for the Duet, but does it hold the breakout cable and firewire cable?

I pretty much have my Macbook setup ready to go in a nice heavy duty bag that also holds it's power cables and such. The rest of my setup will be an Apogee Duet, Sennheiser HD 280 headphones, Blue Bluebird mic (in it's wooden box), small pile of assorted mic and instrument cables, etc. I'm curious as to what solutions you guys might suggest for carrying all of this around in the most compact but protected manner! I'm getting a little OCD about it being cleverly small and portable, so hopefully you guys got some good, relatively inexpensive ideas!

Gator make two backpacks. One has rack rails. And the other one is one you could get. it's a nice looking sturdy backpack with compartments for laptop, interface, hardisk, cables, etc. It seems like it would suit your needs. You wouldn't need your present laptop case. The model number is G-MEDIA-PRO-BP. You can see it here: GATOR CASES

I just use a shure microphone pencil case style case, it won't protect much from knocks, but it'll protect from scratches.

or what about the box it came in?

A Pelican brand camera case should fit well and would be the most robust option.

The Apogee brand case does have a pocket for the cables.

This one would fit best though maybe no room for cables.

yes, the official duet bag holds the breakout in the smaller zippered pocket.
its a nice little bag if you ask me and everything fits perfectly.
