Question Remote Recording in South Korea

Does anyone out there know of any remote recording trucks in South Korea. I haven't found anything in my online searches. I would need a truck with lots of inputs and at least a 48trk recorder. Anyone know of anything? Thanks.

I would search in the Japanese, Chinese and Australian markets. Asia is pretty big, there's got to be a few trucks around and may already be in South Korea.

I know NHK has a few mobiles in the area. My friend has built two or three of them for NHK. I shall ask him about it real soon.

When's the gig? If applicable, you maybe able to ship a truck or a portable "Fly Pack" from Australia.

I emailed my NHK friend and two Australian associates a link to this thread. I plan to call Kaz about any NHK trucks in the area. You never know...

LG Arts Center in Seoul, very cool.
When is it happening?
How many input channels do you need?
Is it also a live broadcast?
Do you also have to provide a stereo live mix while you track the date?
Are there any setup days involved?

Just want to know the answers when my associates ask.

Pete, I got your PM. Thanks. I've sent you a PM reply -- Check it out.

My NHK buddy got back to me with some information.
There are two NHK mobile units he designed. One has a 48 channel NEVE VR Legend with a 14 channel Studer 962. The other mobile unit has a 56 channel SSL9000J with a bunch of outboard pres and such.

He also knows some of the other mobile recording companies in Japan.
There are more than 10 mobile recording facilities plus a bunch of portable rigs that range from TASCAM to ProTools. A variety of mic pres and all the other goodies are also available.

My associates in Australia have not chimed in yet. More on that when they get back to me.

I hope this helps.

I don't know about the NHK mobiles (since they're government owned and off limits), but for commercially available mobiles in Japan, I'd recommend the SCI Mercedes truck.

I think it's a 48 input VR (96 incl small faders) and they can bring in Studer sidecars. Recorder wise, it's wired for dual 48 track, and usually runs PCM3348 or PT. Outboard is plenty as well and they can bring in more thru their rental arm, SES.

If you can't find anything good in S Korea, let me know, I'm working with SES on a daily basis right now.

Verbular San,

I beg to differ. You are incorrect about the ownership of NHK in Japan. Many people like yourself believe NHK is owned by the government but, they are not. They're an independently owned nonprofit organization.

From what I understand two of NHK's mobile units are available for hire via sister company. Their other mobiles are in use by the Japanese government. Or something to that effect. Hey, maybe I'm completely wrong and just got lost in the translation.

Yeah, Sound Creators, Inc. have 5 mobiles and have a lot of portable equipment via their rental department. My buddy, Kaz knows a few of the folks at SCI. He's the guy that designed and built two of the NHK trucks. It's good to know you work at SES. It must be awesome to be around all that equipment.

TAMCO is also available in Japan. They have 4 mobiles. Kaz has worked with them many times.

West Lake Recording have a NEVE truck. Very professional situation but, a little more expensive than the others. I don't have a link for them.

And we cannot forget NHK Technical Services. That's the company Kaz worked for. They have two mobiles for rental.

From what I understand, those are the main mobile recording companies in Japan. There are others but, not as happening.
