Hello - Are there any opinions on the pros/cons of using apple's garageband for no-frills (no processing) 2-track stereo location recording with the metric halo ULN-2? Thanks! |

Garage Band came with my new Powerbook, and mesed around with it for a while. Very user (consumer) friendly. I was able to get all inputs from the fireface800 into a session. However, it did not seem to generate any audio files or format that I could see. It looked as if whatever was recorded in GB, stayed in GB. But, please - I am NOT an expert! If all you need is 2 channels, I might check out Audacity (free) or Peak. CHeers! |

You can export all the GB tracks one by one (only two in your case) to iTunes to get the individual files.

I briefly toyed with the idea of using garageband as recording software as well but i think i found discovered that your recordings are limited to 16 bits. Probably fine if you are just presenting the material as is, but once you start applying crossfades between takes or using digital eq I know I would rather have 24 bit source files.
