Talking Remote Studio Connections for Pro Tools. Now THIS is a cool one.

Now This is a cool plugin that I can use.

More info here.

Looking forward to checking this one out.

How much were we paying for the now defunct Digistudio again?(Which turned into Digidelivery)

Looks great for remote VO work.

As I have mentioned in other threads, I work on a large amount of projects that are recorded in Prague. One of the biggest issues are that not all of the people involved can fly to the sessions. I went the rounds with the ftp thing and it will work but not perfect. ISDN is out of the question.
This looks like it will be amazing. I can give the project coordinator an MBOX and have him plug a feed off the console and an internet line and listen to sessions from my studio. I love this..... One question. What will it cost?? Also Rail what if any limitations have you found?

I am so excited I won't be able to sleep tonight.......

Sorry but this stuff just makes me happy.

The only limitation is that currently it's only a mono plug-in... but I'm told the stereo version will follow soon. I didn't find any other limitations -- I set up a talkback mic and could send any track I wanted to the source-connect bus... the other folks could hear me and whatever audio I sent them.. and I could hear and talk to them and record any audio they sent me... all in real time.

There are some exciting ideas for future options... which I can't discuss due to an NDA.

It'll open up a new live chat scenario too.... instead of conversing like this, we could be simply talking to each other...

Would multiple mono be an option to get stereo? I would guess they wouldn't be synchronized and that you would have to lower the bandwidth?

Stereo is a real big deal for mixes etc. Many days a month I am mixing at my studio and my clients are either tracking at another or sequencing at home. Either way they are 40-50 miles away and it would be great to do a Clearmountain style set up where I can just send them mixes in realtime and have them listen. The possibilities are endless.

I realize you can't really say because of NDA but what rough time frame are they looking at for stereo?

Thanks Rail, I appreciate the feedback.

Add some video and we could really collaborate and produce remotely.

Remote session work will be amazing. And my remote VO talent will love this. Goodbye expensive ISDN.

Just got some more info.

"The cost of the plug-in will be $1495. After that there are no monthly or line charges (other than your current ISP). Look for our preview release coming Feb 28th.."

"The plug-in also allows multiple connections so you can connect to various locations simultaneously"

1500 seems like alot but if you compare it to the ISDN equipment needed to pull it off I think it pays for itself quickly.

I emailed them to see if they can start a rental plan like the URS plugins. All rental fees go towards the purchase.

Looking forwardto trying this on Monday. Anyone wanna test this?

Well, I got some great news regarding the price. Here is what Source Connect told me.

"I have to admit that we had not thought of the "rent to own" program,
but I think it sounds brilliant. Our Director of Technology seems to
think that it would not be a problem at all. ... It would probably take us
until April to implement."

Now these are guys that are on the ball!!
