the Best Inverters with True Sine wave have 3% THD,
and most have 5%.

PS Audio Power Plant Premiere has:
0.6% output with 3.5% input.
0.7% outwith 4% input.
0.8% with 4.5% input.
allways with -80dB noise. (much better than Furman p-1800 AR + PF R)

Accuphase PS-1210 has:
0.22% THD

want to see the difference between 3% and 0.22% ?

Accuphase Laboratory, Inc.

APC UPS Surta 5%
Honda Power Inverters <5%

sad but true, anyway...
Accuphase PS-1210 0.22% THD comes pretty close.
also some 6N or 7N Silver and/or OFC cables are pretty close 99.999999%
the Accuphase looks the business. Must be mega expensive I fear...

I've used the Exeltech inverters on ships for years to power the emergency sound systems.

The systems I use are fully redundant meaning there are two sets of control electronics and enough inverter modules to keep the system running in case of electronic failures. The power I get from the Exeltech inverters is cleaner than what comes from the ships generators (and that's not dirty power at all).

We use 24 volt Marine Gel batteries, they last forever. We run on inverted power all the time so there is zero change-over in case of a power failure. Our battery chargers are constantly topping off the batteries. The system works flawlessly.

I spec our systems for 3 to 5 thousand watts. The emergency sound system only draws about 1800 watts at 110vac when it's floored out so I have some headroom factored in.

Inverter systems have some issues besides whether its sine or square wave power. There is something called power factor which is a complex way of stating the inefficiency of the inverter. The inverters I use are only about 85% efficient so you need to take this into account when sizing a system.

I like the Exeltech modular rack systems, they work for me. They also power the phone systems at most of the US Embassys around the world.

On one of my ship installations I power up a good sized rack of Crown Com Tech amplifiers with the Exeltech inverter and we run all the digital music and control system on this power too. It sounds great, you'd never know it's running on a battery from listening to it.

I have six golf cart batteries, which are deep cycle like the marine batteries, connected together, to run a laptop and audio interface over a four day weekend music festival, successfully. Found this online resource about capacity and charging: Deep Cycle Battery FAQ
