How do you handle cold calls from potential clients?

In the 80's we used to hang up if we didn't get those 4 Q's answered, a bit rude but so was the 80's ,,,lol!!!

I tried a novel tack today, when I finally got ahold of the person I was aiming to talk to, I said flat out, "This is a cold call."

Seemed to put everyone at ease, oddly enough... like we'd leapfrogged over the awkwardness and could get down to cases.
