Nobody was good. That might be the worst half time show ever. Technical and performance!

I was watching with my wife and two close friends. They mixed Ashlee's vocals up really high, probably to prove that she was singing. Unfortunately, that means we could hear her and she was terrible. Her performance was off key half the time and her wild yelps and moronic dancing was sheer comedy. We laughed our asses off most of the time and we were very pleased when Ashlee was heavily booed at the end! thumbsup HILARIOUS.

Sorry to rant, but Ashlee Simpson is f*cking horrible and she needs to quit now before she kills again. As much as I don't like any of the teeny pop that's all over the airwaves today, at least Christina A. and some others can sing. It seems clear that Ashlee's record company has invested too much money in her to cut loose until she sells a few more albums. Ashlee's like the Pontiac Aztek of pop stars: she is a bad product and she doesn't deserve to sell. Please pull her from the market, please!!!!

BTW, did you all notice how there were no drum mics for any of the acts? I also liked the two and three-part guitar tracks during the first act when there was only one guitar on stage. Lots of doubled vocals as well. Hmmm...

Oh yeah: FIGHT ON TROJANS!!!!

I swear to god I honestly believed that this thread was a question about slowing down playback to make lip syncing easier or something.

I am actually offended she's a paid "musician." Normally I get pretty defensive of people who criticize uber-pop performers, as I think it just comes from a place of bitterness and jealousy, and I usually admire the tenacity required to become a megawatt star, but this girl is supposed to be a rock and roll singer.

I say give it to her... I feel badly for her personally, but her and her daddy and her sister and brother in law need to just get it piled on and on, in the hopes of scaring off other "singers." You don't see me insisting to the world that I should be the 5th starting pitcher for the Dodgers, do you? No... Any guesses as to why? Hmmmm.... perhaps because I used to pitch in Jr. High and I haven't done so since '89. Sometimes desire just isn't quite enough, and it's healthy to persue dreams that are... you know.... actually reachable.

Dear Ashlee,

I know you are probobly a decent person, and you may or may not have worked hard to get where you are, but you suck at singing. I don't care how many albums you've sold or how great John Shanks made you sounds. You're terrible. Go back to acting before you become the most reviled woman in America since Leona Helmsley.

Sincerely,

Tunesmith

I didn't see the actual halftime performances, but here's what I know.....

I was contacted to do some of the music seagues between artists for the halftime show. It was going to be this big "Jam" theme (still may have been, I don't know.). It was to originally have been Gwen Stefani, but it didn't get squared up. Then it was going to be Kelly Clarkson and a country artist, whom I cannot remember. At that point, both artists current singles were more mid-tempo to ballads, so I was axed due to that. But, it sounds like they had to "settle" for Miss Simpson... very interesting! I know that securing any sort of talent for halftime was a real drag. What a shame!!!

I think it's just a matter of time (very short at that) before she's a "has-been." I guess we're more "forgiving" now-adays as compared to the Milli-Vinilli era!

The sound production of the halftime show was the worst I'd ever heard. All three artists & songs were poorly balanced (I couldn't tell when I was listening to a live lead vocal or a backing track and both Kelly & Trace's numbers had vocals far too low for their ranges to be musical or intelligible). As for Ashlee, I kinda felt sorry for her - the boos were deafening, and she must be under a ton of pressure from her dad/manager to go out their and try to make it as an artist. IMHO she's not nearly as bad a performer as Kelly Osborne (the worst singer I've ever heard - in fact, it's an insult to all singers to call her a singer dfegad ) but it's discouraging to anyone who really has talent to put someone of Ashlee's caliber on stage at an event like that.

Hey HudHudson ....

I agree with you 100%. Kelly Osborne is the worst by far. But Im sure deep down she knows that, unlike Assley Simpson who probably thinks shes the next big thing.

"Sing" seems to be a pretty subjective word in this thread.
