Question What kind of mogami cable for line signal and mic signal?

i want to buy mogami here in italy.
for every mic i need a 15 meter cable from mic to preamp (mic cable). then 20 meter cable from preamp to soundcard (line cable). then 3 meter from soundcard to monitor.
considering on location recording, what kind of cable suit better for me?
the 15 meter cable must be the same model from the 20 meter cable considering the signal flow is the one mic signal the other line signal?and about the cable to the monitors?
my best regards,
Alessandro.

Reading you post the thought occurred to me, if you care enough to be wanting Mogami cable you might prefer to looking at limiting your analogue cable run to a minimum. The distances you talk of whilst not enormous, depending on the number of tracks is a lot of cable coiling just as a practicality more than anything. What a lot of us are doing is going for a stage box with remote preamps if you can afford them and bringing the digital signals back to the control room via Madi if high track count. This can mean your 'multicore' can be a single fibre / BNC cable which is music less hassle, especially when the venue manager is jangling the keys at the end of a concert.

I am sorry this does not answer your question directly. I have never heard of mic cable be any different to that used for line level signals. In the UK, I think Synthax are doing Mogami now so could probably answer your question more fully as well as advise on Madi as they are also the main source for RME I believe.

Helo Allessandro,

Don't worry that 15 M or 20 M will be too long for a mic run or a line run. These are fairly short runs and any good mic amp will drive the signal that distance.

I recommend Mogami 2549 which is Mogami's best mic cable. It is low capacitance, has a heavy copper content (22gauge) and comes in various colors. Black is the standard color.

This super quality cable will last for many decades and has served well here. All our cables are at least 30 meters here.

Get yourself a cable drum for these cables and wind them on after each recording job is over. Then, 30 years from now, you can look at the same cable drum and say, I remember when I started out with that drum.

Acquiring good cable and paying for good cable is a smart choice.

Plush is completely on point with regard to his cable suggestion.

It's completely cool to use mic cable for your line level stuff.
As long as your monitors are active you can also use the same cable for them.

Keep it all the same and you have options and backup when needed.

I use Belden 1800B.. it's easy to buy in bulk and rated just as good as the best Mogami for impedance.

what about capacitance? that's what really makes an audible difference...
