Easy:

Blue enCORE 200 Active Dynamic

Regardless of the situation presented or the gear it was attached to, this monster fed on RFI and passed it on to any speaker in it's vicinity. When supplied with phantom power, the noise would go down at times (althoug sound clearer) but it was never fixable.

The mic is now in my tool drawer as a backup hammer.

Pearl MS-8 mic.
Noisy and very sensitive to RF. Almost impossible to use in RF-busy cities.

Some mics are just impossible in RF heavy areas. But try this next time you encounter a problem:

Use Neuman 3 conductor mic cable. Connect the green wire to pin 3. Connect the Shield to Pin 3 AND the case of the mic connector. (Easier with Switchcraft connectors) Do this on BOTH ends of the mic cable. This should ground the case of your microphone. Always connect this cable to the mic. You can extend if necessary. This solution was specifically recommended by MT Gefel for all of their M7 capsule mics. It also works with other mics in my collection.

Regards;
Danny

I sold my first pair of mics - the SM81. A little harsh and it a while before a gig to get them in a spot where they sounded good. But, I did some good work with them! The only reason I sold them was to finance a pair of Schoeps.

Ivo,
I like these mics in a more diffused field. I found them to be incredibly detailed, but not desirable in every (ORTF) situation. But there are times they do have "magic"!

Is that so. I had always thought about trying one based upon an online
comparison I heard a couple years back. Oh well.

I think that sooner or later, someone somewhere will dislike even a fabulous, exceptionally glorious mic like the Sputnik, which is amazing for anything close-up: vocals, acoustic guitars, New Year's Eve noisemakers...

The world is just too wide and filled with too many people, this is crazy and baby, it's not like me.

I totally agree with you about 451's. They give me a toothache.
